Founded in 1979, Vess Oil has operated oil and natural gas properties in Kansas for more than 40 years and, according to statistics furnished by the Kansas Geological Survey, was the fourth largest operator of oil properties in Kansas measured by production during 2020. Vess Oil currently operates over 1,500 oil, natural gas and service wells in Kansas, Oklahoma, and East Texas. From its inception, Vess Oil has concentrated on acquisitions in addition to the development and exploitation of its existing reserve base and recently has expanded its focus on exploration activities. Vess Oil is supported by its Wichita, Kansas headquarters and Dallas, Texas corporate office, along with five field and satellite offices.

Publicly Traded Royalty Trust: MV Oil Trust (NYSE: MVO)
Vess Oil, in conjunction with Murfin Drilling Company, Inc., was responsible for the formation and execution of the initial public offering of MV Oil Trust (NYSE: MVO) in January 2007. In connection with the formation of MVO, MV Partners, LLC (“MVO Sponsor”) conveyed an 80% term net profits interest in oil and natural gas properties in the Mid-Continent region in Kansas and Colorado to MVO in exchange for trust units, of which 75% were sold by MVO Sponsor in MVO’s initial public offering. Vess Oil serves as contract operator to MV Partners, operating approximately 60% of the proved reserves attributable to the underlying properties based on PV-10 value, and certain officers and employees of Vess Oil serve on the executive management team of MV Partners.

Publicly Traded Royalty Trust: VOC Energy Trust (NYSE: VOC)
Vess Oil was responsible for the formation and execution of the initial public offering of VOC Energy Trust (NYSE: VOC) in May 2011. In connection with the formation of VOC, VOC Brazos Energy Partners, LP (“VOC Sponsor”) conveyed an 80% term net profits interest in oil and natural gas properties in Kansas and Texas to VOC in exchange for trust units, of which 75% were sold by VOC Sponsor in VOC’s initial public offering. Vess Oil serves as contract operator to VOC Brazos, operating approximately 90% of the proved reserves attributable to the underlying properties based on PV-10 value, and certain officers and employees of Vess Oil serve on the executive management team of VOC Brazos.
